Community College Struggles

I am currently on my last year of my Associates Degree at my local community college...but I can't help feel sadness seeing all of friends attend these prestigious universities. They all go out every night and explore the world, while I am still in my hometown. Don't get me wrong, I am very fortunate that I am able to attend college and not have any debt. I just sometimes feel like I am not living out my twenties. I always imagined going to a big university, so seeing others live out my previous dreams can be defeating. Comparing yourself to others is the worst thing you can do to yourself. I just have to remind myself that just because your dreams are different then everyone else do not make them any less. My journey is simply my journey.

Debate Time

This week we got to see the two presidential candidates, Donald Trump (Republican) and Kamala Harris (Democrat), go head to head in a fierce televised debate. The debate drew in an astonishing 67.1 million viewers and unsurprisingly stirred up controversy. This debate was hard for me to watch because I feel like the respect between the two parties has been demolished in recent years. Our country is divided by our differing political views and individuals are becoming extremely intolerant to others who do not believe in their beliefs. Individuals are so set on being right, they lose the ability to see the other perspective and would rather prove a point. In our society, I feel as if individuals are so opposed to hearing any other viewpoint that does not align exactly with their points. I hope we get to the point where we can come together, listen to each other, and find middle ground. You would be surprised with how many basic fundamentals we all share. Be nice to one other and try to e...

When will our students feel safe again?

A tragic school shooting occurred this week, a story that we all know far too well. A fourteen-year-old boy entered his school with a gun on September 4, 2024, and killed two of his classmates and two teachers. It was the 45th school shooting incident of this year. The story hit individuals all around the world as we take a look at this growing problem. What made such a young individual capable of such a horrific act and why is this happening more frequently? Every individual has their own viewpoints on why gun violence is occurring rapidly right now. Various opinions exist about whether guns or the people who own them are the problem. In my opinion, taking away guns will not solve this problem. The problem stems far deeper. Majority of these individuals are extremely mentally-disturbed and desperately need mental health. We need to advocate for mental health resources for these individuals and make sure to keep a watchful eye out for warning signs. The individuals often display many t...

The Beginning

Does anyone else have no idea what they are wanting to do with their future? I am a twenty year old college student and can't make my mind up about what show to watch. Nevertheless, what major I am supposed to pursue. Some days I wake up thinking I have my entire future planned out, and then the next I am just lost. This adulting thing is not all its cracked up to be. I remember being young and wanting to grow up so desperately, but now all I wish is to go back to simpler times. I want to create this blog to share my experiences as well as document my growth as a person. I hope that others can connect to my stories and feel seen.
